Ever been to Bermuda? They use knee socks with shorts formally.
I sometimes use white athletic socks with shorts tho' not for
formal wear and I do wear blue jeans, often without socks at
all. Dark ankle socks with shorts are rather midwest (sorry ;-)
or indicate somone on a first trip to Hawaii.
