well, yeah, they do. clean mud would be just supersaturated
dirt, with no manure. pigs don't want to wallow in filth.
pigs will naturally use one corner of their stall or pen to
relieve themselves (and if more than one pig is penned
together they'll use a communal corner) & they don't go
rolling in it unless the area is too small or not kept cleaned
out.
when i was in college, cleaning up after the pigs was my
favorite barn chore. every other livestock animal just goes
where ever they happen to be standing, and then walks in it,
lays in it or kicks it all over. pigs, you scoop out their
corner, drop in some fresh litter, play with them a bit &
you're out & done. cows, horses, sheep, goats, birds... you
gotta scrape out the whole stall & put in new litter. pain in
the butt & takes a lot longer.
besides, pigs are smart. *and* tasty. :)
