Except for the fact that they were doing that in Europe
centuries ago. If you ever look at some of the menus
and recipes from back in the Renaissance, etc., you will
see all kinds of animals stuffed inside other animals stuffed
inside other animals. And they sometimes saved the skins of
the birds with the feathers still attached and put them back
on after the meat was roasted and served them that way for
decoration.
No, this is one excess that was not started in America!
