It is sorrel soup, too. Schchi is a Russian soup usually made with
cabbage or sauerkraut, but this version, called "green schchi" is made
with sorrel. Sometimes, spinach is added. "Green schchi" can also be
made with nettles.

It is a version of Potage Germiny. Indeed, it is very good. I once
made a similar version in Texas, where it is difficult to get hold of
sorrel. I found some at Central Market in Plano, where is was anything
but inexpensive. Here in Germany, I can buy inexpensive jarred sorrel
in Russian groceries. For soup, it is just as good as fresh.
