When I'm in Chicago, I eat at taquerias every day. Jeez, great
burritos are everywhere, except the North Shore (the one consolation
there is that you have the privilege of waiting overlong to get
breakfast at Walker Bros). I wish we'd get a few of those mom&pop
burrito joints here.




I hear ya, Bryan. I left Chicago and the working world more than 2 years ago
and settled in southern TN. Although I have discovered a whole new sea of
foods and cooking styles, I miss real mexican food and the abundance of it.

Voicing that, *quite* a while back at a cookout here, some friends
individually took me to a couple of mexican restaurants within a day driving
distance. They were owned by mexicans, mexicans did the cooking, but the
food was totally toned down until it was one step above Taco Bell.

I tried to be as gracious as possible to my hosts, but I really wished I
could get a bag of carne asada tacos, all cilantro'd up, and pass them
around.
